How do you obtain Deqi in small children, is it necessary at all? |

It is usually not necessary. Children are very sensitive to stimulation and the needling applied to them is usually shallow. In most cases the skin around the point gets reddened after needle inserion, a fact that demonstrates the energetical reaction of the point. This is actually Deqi. |

Of course you can. Many practitioners in fact prefer to stimulate the points and meridians of small children by acupressure rather than needles. With small children, you usually apply either the chopstick, or the shortstick and gently massage the points and areas that you have chosen. Results are usually quite prompt. |
