We have a pemf (pulsating electromagnetic field) therapy unit made by Curatron. It is manufactured in Isreal. We also have your book Chopstick Accupunture. One of the applicators for the unit is a probe which can generate a pulsed field to a very small localized area. I have read that this type of therapy can be used as an accupunture type modality. I would appreciate your thoughts or knowledge on this subject. Thank you. |

Hi Ed, unfortunately I have no experience whatsoever with the pemf unit so I can not comment on it. Nonetheless, throughout my 35 years of practice I have tested and tried many different types of modern tech appliances, including laser and electro-acupuncture, including the Voll electro-acupuncture (E.A.V.) and many others. All of these high tech approaches and inventions ended up with dissatisfaction and disappointment. I have come to the realization that none of these challenge, even to the lesser degree, traditional acupuncture with low cost needles. That said, I have also come to a conclusion that most of my western colleagues who practice acupuncture, have a very weak spot with acupuncture techniques. The theoretical background of most practitioners in the west is quite satisfactory. Alas, I can't say the same about their actual practice. A pity, because acupuncture practice should be able to yield much better results than can be witnessed in many clinics in the west. As for the Chopsticks Acupuncture technique, in recent years I have broadened my experience using it for a large variety of pain syndromes, I must honestly and humbly say I am overwhelmed and astonished anew from its effectiveness. It is nothing like plain Shiatzu, nor Tuina, and in many instances it supersedes even acupuncture by needles. I have recently tried it on many of my gout patients, a very painful type of arthritis, instructed them how to use it at home by themselves, and it is astonishing to witness the results. In many instances, this type of non-invasive therapy can eliminate a full scale gout flare-up much better and faster that N.S.A.I.D.S such as diclofenac and is a real match for acupuncture itself. I am really sorry that I didn't include a chapter on this alone in my book... |
