Dear Schmuel, I have a patient(34)who recently told me, as our last session ended, that he was suffering from a flare up of genital herpes, which I understand as Damp Heat in the Liver channel. I will not see him for another 2 weeks, so perhaps the condition will have resumed the latent phase by then. Could you suggest some useful points for chronic/acute phases. He is Blood Xu and I was considering LIV 2,3,8 GB34, SP9, KID10 and wondering whether Chong Mai might be useful in this case: SP4 or local ST30? |

The points combination that I usually use for this condition are as follows: Sp-6/ Sp-9/ St-29/ St-30 - all in dispersion. This is a strong combo in order to drain dampness and move xue in the lower jiao. In addition, Liv-8/ Ren-3 - work specifically on the liver meridian. Occasionally B-17/ B-18/ B-23 in tonification in order to address Xue xu in the liver. B-32/ 36/ B-26/ B-40 as secondary points affecting the region of the herpes. |

It has been my experience that SP-6 in a combination is a very good place to start in any manifestation of the herpese virus. Jan. |
