i am currently doing a research paper and was wondering if i could ask you some questions 1.Is acupuncture effective in treating cancer? 2.What is the daily cost of acupuncture treatment? 3.Would you recommend cancer patients to acupuncture or chemotherapy? 4.How long is the treatment plan when using acupuncture to treat cancer? b)Is it that if treatment is stopped the patient will die as in the article? 5)Are the side effects of acupuncture numerous and what are the common side effects? With Thanks; S.Samuels |

Cancer is a "big" thing Shaneil. There are many kinds of cancer, some of them very responsive to either western medicine and Chinese medicine, some of them not. Some of the cancers develop fast, some slow. In prostate cancer, for instance, a type which usually develops very slowly, success rates by acupuncture are astonishingly high. In such cancers, e.g.: prostate, beginning phase of breast cancer, some types of skin cancer and more, I'd definitely recommend patients to try acupuncture and Chinese herbs as first choice. It is vital to know however, that not all acupuncture techniques are capable of treating cancer effectively. I would argue that, in my experience, acupuncture techniques such as the five-elements approach, Japanese style, Korean style, stems and branches style and more, are only capable of aiding and relieving the syffering and symptoms of cancer patients, but are not capable, in most cases, of bringing about a cure. TCM approach should be utilized if Chinese medicine is taken as the main modality for such patients. |
