If you refer to acupuncture treatment Per, which I guess you do, treatment need to be directed at cooling the skin by invigorating yin circulation superficially. Basic formula for this: Li-11/ K-7/ Ren-4/ B-13 Additional (secondary points): L-5/ K-2/ Du-14 _____________________ Li-11/ K-7 is a basic formula to circulate fluids and blood in the skin. Li-11 being the water point of the Li channel, cools the blood and the skin, and replenishes blood circulation in the skin being the tonification point of the hand Yangming which is abundant with blood. K-7 being the tonifying point for K Yin, draws out the water from the kidneys to the surface. Ren-4 strengthens the kidneys (water element) and is a major point to assist Yin Qi, and Yuan Qi. B-13 stregthens lung activity of facilitating the flow of body fluids throughout the body. L-5 and K-2 is an established formula to quench thirst (which is a major symptom in sun stroke of any kind), as well as treat Yin Qi deficiency in patterns such as diabetes, hot flashes, etc. Du-14 may be mildly sedated in order to reduce Yang Qi superficially as well as externally contracted heat, and stop body tremors which often occur with this syndrome. I think this will work fine for you Per.

Dear Shmuel! Thanks a lot for your quick reply and the way you explain both how to do, but allso what happens when I use the combinations. But your answer arise a question from me becouse when I read your answer I think I maybe ask you for the wrong issue, I'm in a little doubt. In Danish translated directly into English we call it: sun eczema, but when I look in the dictionary it says: summer rash. Maybe we are talking about the same thing, but when I'm talking about this issue, it's a condition where the person got sunburnt and lots of small blisters ocour on the skin surface. Do you know what conditions to look for in a TCM manner. Could there be a underlying Damp Heat condition, or what else could it be? Best regards Per |

Yes Per, this is exactly the condition I had in mind when replying to your post. This is not a damp heat condition, despite the fluid-filled blisters. Those blisters arise as a result of "frying" the skin - so to speak - by excessive and direct sunlight. Same phenomenon as you fry eggs on a pan, the eggs develop such blisters, until they get totally fried. Damp-heat is basically an internal condition, or an external syndrome which has been lodged for relatively a long time. The condition which you refer to, is totally external, its appearance is quick, acute and painful. |

Dear Shmuel! Again thanks a lot for your answer. It's the first time for me to treat such a condition, and I have no experience in that field so be be sure that I got the right understanding about the issue I asked you again to be sure. But what about the stategy for this kind of treatment, can you treat in advance before the condition arise, or can you ownly treat the condition when it manifest and how often will you treat and how manny treatments is necessary if you can treat in advance? By the way what is wrong with your website, it's been down yesterday and now here to day where I was going to reply your mail on the forum. Have a nice day. Per

Well, Israel is a hot country, and we are accustomed to such issues, unfortunately. There is no point in treating in advance, it will not do any good... People who have tender skin, actually most Europians, should refrain as much as possible from exposing their skin to direct and excessive sunlight. When such a problem occurs, however, treatment should be given daily, as is the case with most acute syndromes. As symptoms and signs get better, frequency (and intensity) of treatment should be reduced accordingly. I wasn't aware that my website was down. Maybe some problem with the server in the US. Now, it seems to function well. Thanks anyway. |
