Can you please recommend any special Acupuncture points that would be of benefit for Drooping Eyelids apart from a blepharoplasty? Kind regards, Jonathan Griffin C.E.O.

Hi Jonathan! You can try with BL1 (Jingming) or BL2 (Zanzhu) pointing towards Jingming, BL62 (Yangqiao) tonified, and Ki6 (Yinqiao) sedated Best wishes Per Andersen |

I usually treat this problem by using the surrounding points around the orbit, by mild stimulation: B-2/ Sj-23/ G-1/ St-2 and St-36 by tonification. The points around the orbit, when stimulated lightly, are encouraging Qi & blood circulation to the superficial muscle tissues around the eye, thus enhancing their tonus. St-36 is a great tonifying point for the overall muscular tonus by its ability to tonify the spleen, which is in charge of all muscles. In addition, the stomach muscle meridian encircles the eye by joining the bladder meridian in this region. St-36 is a major point therefore to enhance this muscle meridian in its activity. As opposed to Per's suggestion, I wouldn't use for this problem B-1 as this point is usually used for severe ocular disfunction or diseases. Also K-6 and B-62, being the master points of extra meridians Yin and Yang Qiao mai, are usually utilized for balancing Yin and Yang energies in the functioning of the eye itself as an organ - when applied for eye disorders. |

Hello Per, I have never treated droopy eyelids and I hope your recommendations work. I am curious though why you would choose Ki6 though. -Cools Heat, Calms Spirit, Benefits the Throat- all throat symptoms I am sus that our esteemed predecessors didn't entirely let the cat out of the bag re this point...(as usual) My unusual experience with Ki6 is that it worked (when used for this purpose) Night Blindness.!! Granted I worked hard on getting Qi and maintaining a dull heavy but not painful sensation there for about 20 minutes. I had tested the patients ability to resolve some writing in semidark conditions (turned the lights down in the tmt room. After this one treatment he reported and I heard him read the writing he could only barely see 30 minutes previously!! The big test was his drive home in the dark which he did every night concern about hitting Kangaroos was his big thing. Understandable because they can be up to 1.8m tall and weigh 100kg. After this one tmt he told me that driving home was a pleasure. I saw him for over 6 weeks and this was maintained!! Any one else had any luck with Ki6 for EYE problems (forget the Liver??) Cheers...Phil Macqueen in Sunny Brisbane

Hello Phil! I have only little experience with droopy eyelids, just a few cases (actually 3), with good results in 2 of them. The idea with using the combination of Ki6, Bl62, and Bl1, is the efekt of regulating yin and yang in the Yinqiao and Yangqiao vessels. I did it with these points, because I read a lot of information about those points when I some years ago figured out how to treat snoring with acupuncture. But anyway, you can try to use Shuels advise, I think his experience on that field is better than mine. Best wishes Per Andersen |
