Here in India there is a Dengue haemorrhagic fever epidemic. This is a viral infection with high grade fever body ache and platelet depletion which in severe cases causes internal bleeding and death. With Modern Medicine patients are saved with the supportive measures as antipyretics, fluid and platelets infusion. Can Chinese Medicine help in such an epidemic? I am a qualified Acupuncture practitioner. |

I think that Chinese Herbal Medicine might be able to help but I think that it would depend on the stage of the infection and the individual infected... as well as the availablility of the herbs. Have you investigated Ayruveda? Good luck. P.T.

Hello, I am wondering if there are variations of dengue fever. After hurricane Hugo hit St. Croix in the Virgin Islands in 1989 it seemed to be rampant. It presented as an intense flu with eye complications in that moving the eyes caused excruciating pain. People seemed to have a mild or intense case of it. I, myself, had it with only minor flu symptoms and minimal eye pain. I don't remember hearing that anyone died of it or that it caused hemorrhaging. P.T.
