Dr. Halevi, I had my incisor (second from the middle) on the bottom right extracted in December of 2004. In August of '05 the surgeon put a titanium implant in the mandible and in Jan of '06 the dentist put a threaded crown into the implant. In June, the gum around the implant became inflamed and the crown became loose. A peridontist said I had gum disease. Then, two days ago, the threaded crown literally fell out of my mouth! Today the surgeon opened up the gum and inspected the implant and said that the surgery that he did a year ago was successful, the implant was fully integrated. I can be fitted for a new porcelain crown in about a week. Now, to my question... my face, especially my lower mandible on the right side where the surgery was done HURTS! What points would help with the pain, swelling, and inflammation? I was thinking LI 3; ST 44;& ST 45 (Ouch!) What do you think? Thank you, Dr. Eric Waltemate P.S. Could you send me my Username and Password, I have lost them P.P.S. I posted a link to your pictures of the Holy Land on another Forum. Everyone loved them! |

Those points that you mentioned Eric won't help. You may use St-6 on the right mandible with direct pressure, preferably of some chopstick (or the like) that has a rounded and smooth edge (the wider end of a chopstick!). Press strongly until you can feel a radiating pain or numbness traveling to the site of your mandibular pain. Do this repeatedly for several seconds each time and until the pain is diminished. If you are thinking of acupuncture treatment, you may use the same point along with Li-4 and St-44 of the same side, dispersing, strong manipulation and/or electricity.

Dr. Halevi, Thanks for the reply. I did get the user and password from you, I forgot to drop the first PS before I added the post. I'll get to work on that ST6 now. Dr. Eric |
