Hi Dr. Halevis For Diabetes due to kidney yin defficiency with blood statis, would the following prescription can be used ? Liu wei di huang wan add: huang qi, dang shen to benefit qi gou qi zi to benifit liver yin dan shen, tao ren , hong hua, shan zha to invigorate the blood . } Thank you |

In principle yes. Liu Wei is a classical basic formula to treat initial stage diabetes. The other ingredients may be added after evaluation of the blood stasis and the Qi deficiency and their relative severeness in the whole picture. |

I usually use points to assist with the Yin Xu syndrome in the three jiaos (burners). L-5/ K-2 - tonify the L and K yin and attracts back the empty fire to its source, Ren-12/ St-44 - do the same to the stomach thus quenches excessive hunger and thirst. Sp-6/ Ren-4 - tonify blood and Yin Qi. This is the basic formula and it usually works wonders for diabetes. It is advisable to pay good attention as to which of the Jiaos is more affected and put an emphasis there. Other points may of course be incorporated into this formula according to symptoms, pulse variations etc. |
