hi Shmuel, As a general guideline..... when would tuina be used after acupuncture and vise versa, and are there cases where after acupuncture treatment tuina is not advisable ( I am speeking mainly bi syndrum or pain problems )? boaz |

This is a good question, Boaz. As a rule of thumb I usually don't recommend tuina at the same time with acupuncture. Usually acupuncture has a much stronger impact than Tuina and there is no need to add it after or before acupuncture. In cases where the patient is robust you can try and add Tuina at the end of the acupuncture session if the treatment was light. In certain light forms of acupuncture such as Japanese acupuncture you may add Tuina to the treatment as the Tuina may work faster on the acute symptoms than the very light acupuncture. In any event, you may try and add Tuina whenever you feel that you should, just make sure to monitor the reactions of your patient and see if this combination suit him/her or not. |
