Welcome to this forum Nathalie. PCO (Policystic Ovaries) and both acne and and hirsutism (excessive body hair in both sexes) are explained in Ch.med. as a malfunctioning of the extra channels of Chong and Ren mai. These two meridians are very much involved in gynecology, sex, fertility, menstruation and hormonal activity. The two meridians embark from the kidneys area and are nourished by the kidney energy. The Chong and Ren enter the uterus and climb their way up to the chest upper back and lips, respectively. Hormonal imbalance at puberty due to sexual maturation and other causes, cause abnormalities in these extra meridians. These may be of excessive dampness and heat which result in acne on the face or chest, or of excessive blood and Yang Qi which may cause excessive hair on the face or chest. For extra information on the functioning of these meridians, please read my articles at: http://www.acumedico.com/female.htm http://www.acumedico.com/acne.htm
