dear dr. halevi a women 78ys has a problem in the past year in which she has to go alot of times to the toilet for urination and stool we are talking about about 7-8 times stool and much more urination.(that was in the begining of the treatment) after6 treaments it was starting to get better but still not very good ,and than she got sick(cold) and the situation got worse again, that was 2 weekes ago .the problem is that she can not be with the needles more than 5 min. than she has to go for urine/stool so that is very difficult to treat her like that.the urin and stool are fine the only problem is in the nomber of times during the day. it is allot of mental situation and she also knows it. the t. is qi/yang xu the p. is generly wiry fast but full and good somtimes slipery i think it is a blockege in the l.j that effects both stool and urintion. i would love if you could help me and i hope it is not confusing(my writing_) and i will be happy to answer if more info. is needed thank you very much. |

A.O. this is a very difficult problem to treat. It is difficult to treat in that age even without her having to stop the treatment after 5 minutes, more so with this given. Try to establish your treatment on ear-acupuncture and leave the needles for three days each time + herbal medicine. To apply herbal medicine in such a condition use strong astringent herbs + kidney and spleen Yang tonifyers. Whenever possible, needle Du-4 + strong moxa on the needle. Hope this helps. |

The ear points are those of the affected organs, i.e.: bladder, kidney, colon, CNS etc. You can use moxa if she does not have heat signs except for the fast pulse. If, as you say, she has Yang Qi deficiency, you may use moxa despite her fast pulse. This type of moxibustion is termed "bringing the Yang back to its source". Sometimes, even Yang deficiency may have fast pulse. This happens due to depletion of Yin-fluids due to excessive urination (or perspiration)- which she apparently has. This condition may exist along with a Yang Qi deficiency which may have other set of symptoms and signs. |

A.O. I am really glad to hear. You may keep the same treatment as long as needed and you may be productive and incorporate other techniques and methods as long as they fit in the main approach dictated by your diagnosis. If you ever come to a point that moxa is too much for this old lady, she'll probably be the first one to know and tell you about it. Old people in her condition may need incessant sessions of moxa and treatment. |
