Please could you specify the herbal formula for Er/San Miao San that you recommend on your Gout information page. I want to ensure my practitioner will be able to prescribe it for me. Thanks |

He should in any event Kevin, as this is a basic formula that can be found in any textbook. Er Miao San - Huang Bai, Cang zhu San miao San- with an addition of Niu Xi The relative weight of each herb in the formula need to be tailored to every patient in accordance with the diagnosis. Huang Bai has been found (according to some Chinese researchers) to lower serum uric acid. Yet, this herb is a very strong damp-heat clearer and not appropriate (at least in large doses) to damp cold patterns who have gout.
