A friend of mine explained that his mother has a dry mouth constantly. He believes that it was bad news that she got a few years ago. She has tried western medicine, consultants etc but to no avail. She e-mailed me photos of her tongue as she lives a distance away. The only crack seems to be in the stomach area. Her heart is quite red and liver pale. The rest seems to be normal. The photos were not the best. If there is anyone that could throw some light on the issue or have had some experience, please pass on any information. K Rgds |

Dry mouth may be a symptom associated with several syndromes. A crack in the stomach area of the tongue alongside a red tongue tip may suggest yin deficiency of the stomach with heart fire in excess. This is especially so if the crack looks dry and the tongue is peeled, but not necessarily. This syndrome may give rise to a dry mouth with thirst. This is of course not sufficient information for a serious diagnosis, but is still possible. In any event, puncturing L-5 in combination with Ren-23 (direction of extra point Yuye) may quench the thirst and eliminate the dry mouth to some extent. Other point that tonify St. yin and Kid. yin may be appropriate in addition. |
