Hi, I have read this term on several occasions and would like to ask if any of you folks know what this means. I believe it is a French term and I think it describes an area in the body where you can use a long needle, or something like that. |

Hi Mike, the term, if I correctly recall, was mentioned in Soulie De Morant's text in French: L'Acupuncture Chinoise. The translation is: The Great Puncture and it denotes a treatment given on one side of the body for a problem which exists on the same area but on the other side of the body. I.e., if you have a problem on the right elbow, you puncture Li-11 Quchi on the left elbow. If someone here on the forum knows otherwise, I'd like to hear it. |

You are correct in that it comes from George Soulie de Morant's text (available in English translation as "Chinese Acupuncture.") Actually, at the link below, you can read the entire section on The Great Puncture for treating pain with acupuncture. It is perhaps better to read the section than to try to clarify the points via this post. I hope this helps. http://acupuncture-n-herbs.com/the-great-puncture/ |
