Hi! I wonder if there's any good acup. treatment possibility for the herpes zoster with pain condition in elderly that localizes especially on leg(s) and lower back...? as for my patient on the right side |

Acupuncture is very effective for herpes zoster and for the herpes sequela effect. It is usually considered a damp-heat condition (for obvious reasons) and treated through the Dai Mai system or gall-bladder points. I would therefore choose as the primary set of points the G-41/ Sj-5 combination, along with points such as: G-30/ 31/ 34 and/or points along the route of the pain. Also general points that deal with excess heat and toxins in the blood would help. These may be: Li-11/ Du-14/ B-17 and B-40 all of them in dispersion method. |
