Hi again Dr Halevi, I'm hoping to craft a treatment program for a friend of mine whose yin deficiency is clearly apparent in her tongue and of little surprise considering her very active lifestyle. She's tough, very physical and in the sort of condition that maybe 10% of 20-30 year olds achieve. She eats wisely and in a balanced way, and does a lot of healthy body work but I feel that a kidney deficiency has been a longstanding issue contributing to her condition. She really feels the cold, even in moderate climate. Other symptoms support the deficient KD conclusion. Moreover, and I would like to know what you attribute this to, she knows that her mood can easily become cranky if she needs food (usu. by early evening). Balance is promptly restored by a meal. I think this relates to a need for qi from sources other than KD which need boosting, but am curious as to your thoughts. Could you recommend 1. strong point combinations for boosting yin throughout the system. 2. again, a strong rejuvenating approach to KD 3. your opinion on the metabolism/mood issue 4. any dietary recommendations for KD - including most appropriate instances for dark berries/ celery seed tea/ seaweed/ assorted beans to be eaten medicinally (no sweat on this one, I'm already researching it further, but would welcome any inside experience you may have)} I know this may be too general a description, but I hope it's sufficient for you to form some opinion. Thanks, as always, for your consideration & I hope to hear your opinion soon. |

Hi anonymous. There is not enough information in your post as to confirm your diagnosis of Yin deficiency. On first glance, it looks as if she has Ki. Yang deficiency, contributing to her sensitivity to cold. On the other hand, her craving for food in the evening, does point to a St. Yin deficiency - a phenomenon that does accompany Ki. Yang Xu in certain occasions. If this is the case, my prescription for you will be entirely different, as well as other considerations such as: needle manipulations, diet, etc. If you are unsure of the diagnosis - a mild tonification of K-3 combined with Ren-12/ B-20/ Ren-4/ St-44 may do the job. Try to repeat this treatment 3 times a week for three weeks and let's see what's happening. If you wish to add more points corresponding to symptoms, you may be helped searching through my web-database at: http://acumedico.com/acupoints.htm |
