I often find this point difficult to locate and am not sure about the patient's response to the stimuli. It'll be greatly appreciated if anyone can contribute from their experience about this point. |

This is indeed a very efficient point for buttock pain and/or sciatica extending to the thigh. The point lies in one line with the proximal end of the buttock crease, at the highest point of the buttock muscle. Traditionally, 3 cun lateral to Du-2. It is very easy to know when you get deep enough to the point, as the needle reaction is usually a visible contraction of the buttock muscle of the same side. The insertion depth varies substantially according to the patients' physique. Usually though, this is quite a deep insertion even in slim people. When you get the kind of Deqi described above, you know that you are in the right depth. |
