Hello and thank you for the wonderful site. I have learned a lot in a short time. I notice that some of the titles of the points seemed significant. There is one point along the inner foot called Grandfather Grandson -SP 4. This name seems to mean 'hereditary'. Is there more meaning behind a name? |

Nice question Brooke and thanks for your kind comments. There are few explanations regarding this peculiar name. First of all, Gongsun was the surname of the Yellow Emperor who is supposed to have discovered this point. Another explanation and more likely, is attributed to the role that this point plays in the Qi mechanism of our body. The point is a confluent point of the Chong mai - thus representing Yuan Qi or pre-natal Qi and it is also the Luo connecting point of the spleen with the stomach - representing the source of post natal Qi. Hence the name of the point, namely, Ancestor and Descendant. |
