Elderly people suffering from diabetes, blood pressure and other aspects of old age general deterioration are very difficult to treat. Western medicine can usually, to some extent, monitor the exceeding values and "keep the patient alive". Chinese medicine can help in improving the symptomatology associated with these diseases, improve stamina and life quality but can not cure these diseases in these people. In any event, this is not a case for correspondence consultation. You should better take your mother to Chinese medicine specialist and have her checked and treated thoroughly and for a long period of time. |

Thank you very much. But I want know if Acupunture can cure Diabetes ? Because the Conventional ( Alopatic ) Medicines, said that Diabetes is incurable. Being a METABOLIC disease and has a lot to do with HORMONES, what magic news can Acupunture give us in respect to curing Diabetes entirely ? Thank you. |

Acupuncture is not magic. Suggest you read the previous post more carefully; your questions have been answered as fully as possible. |

My reply to your previous question was directed to address the specific case of your mother. However, in cases of younger people, and those that are not yet insulin dependent, acupuncture may cure diabetes, or at least put it in remission. This is true especially when people seek treatment at the early stage of diabetes. That said, in my experience, most cases do tend to develop diabetes in older age even if you have succeeded in arresting the illness progress even for a few years. Beside the fact that diabetes is an inherited tendency (in most cases), its appearance and development is largely dependent on life style, eating and drinking habits and also emotional stress. Sometimes, a practitioner can not predict what might trigger the appearance or aggravation of this illness, hence can not instruct the patient in 100% what they should or should not do. Even a sudden emotional stress can trigger a deterioration, and this is most often unavoidable. Still, as mentioned above, in young people and those that have had this disorder for a short duration, it is absolutely possible to keep it under check - sometimes for years. |

Sorry for this late reply. You need first of all to come to a diagnosis as for the nature of this swelling. The first thing that comes to my mind according to your description is that she has gout. In order to verify this, she needs to have her blood check for excess uric acid. If this is not the case, my previous advice to you still keeps. Take her please to a specialist in Chinese medicine and have her get a thorough diagnosis. |

Dear Dr. Halevi, I´m writing you because one of my patients presented a patology known as "Polimyositis" with "Dermatomyositis"... He is 36 and he told me that his creatincase level/ blood lt. is 2300UI, being the normal level of 198UI... My question could be if Acupuncture o Acupressure can treat this, and, if so, which treatment can be suggested (points to be treated -stimulate or calm...) Thank You very much. Blessings. |
