Do you agree locating of SP6 (3cun=4patients fingers above internal ankle) and ST36 (3cun=4patients fingers below ST35=internal eye of knee) according to the patients cun measurement ?

At first thanks for this forum and my membership.

Thought that 1 cun would be the width of the patient's thumb.

So i don't understand that 3 cun would be 4 fingers.

What is meant with 1 finger or 4 fingers?

Cun, as explained elsewhere on this forum, is rather a flexible measurement. 3 cun on the chest are not the same as 3 cun on the leg or on the head. Thus, the 3 cun indicated for the distance from the patella to St-36 do not sum up 3 single cun measured by your thumb nail's width. Yet, if you need to measure 1 cun from, say, P-6 to P-5, this will be identical to your thumb's nail width. If you make a search throughout the forum you'll find a sketch depicting the various measurements on the body. In any event, measurement by the cun system or otherwise is not enough in order to properly locate a point. You also need to palpate the point's location and see if it is consistent with the anatomical description of the point, or feel for any peculiarities typical of acupoints characteristics.

Thanks for your reply.

Can one know more about all divergent/different acupoints, in relation to their location?

This regarding their position in relation to the "standard" 1 cun?

Untill now did i use the 1 cun of the patients thumb width as the standard in point location.

But i see now at the moment that this doesn't fit at all.

So i am now very curious to know all divergent points in relation to my conventional way of measuring, with that 1 cun.

Furhter will be a great aid that those the most points are situated in a hole.

Am also interested in a good book which explains those better locations.
This because untill now did i made use of the conventional way, in that point location in relation with that 1 cun.
