Felix Mann's points are usually drawn from classic works of prominent Chinese doctors. Most of these formulas, are also mentioned in S. de Morant's book in French. In contemporary acupuncture however, the choice of points for each of the xiao ke patterns varies a little: For upper xiao ke, main points are: L-5/ K-2/ Ren-23 (secondary points are in accordance with the patient's symptoms and signs) For middle: Ren-12/ St-36/ St-44/ B-20/ B-21 For lower: Ren-4/ Ren-6/ B-20/ B-23/ Ren-3 In contemporary acupuncture, needle manipulation techniques are more important than, say, the choice between B-13 or L-5. Felix Mann however, doesn't attribute much importance to needle manipulations in his writings. Just a small observation... |
