Gout has already been discussed here in the forum and I believe that you can find an answer to your question here: http://www.acumedico.com/cgi-bin/discus/show.cgi?tpc=25&post=167#POST167 Purines, of course, are not mentioned in classical Ch. med. literature, as this literature does not include any chemistry facet. Yet, in rheumatic syndromes correlating or tangent to gout, the Chinese observed the energetical nature of the syndrome (damp-heat and blood stasis) and recommended dietary habits which are significantly similar to a purine-free diet (not completely though). As for a list of foods with their purine content, there is one right here linked to my home-page, have a look here: http://www.acumedico.com/medical.htm#Gout and here: http://www.acumedico.com/purine.htm The table on the mentioned above link is not complete in any way. It is still under construction as I am in a process of comparing data from various resources. Keep tuned to it if you are interested, as it may change in the future. |

Shmuel, is there a Chinese herbal cure for gouty arthritis? I read in the forum that you recommend acupuncture for gout but I can not find a acupuncturist where I live. If you have recommendations for herbs I shall be very grateful. Denise. |

Of course there is Denise. If you please have a look on my web pages, there is a whole chapter about gout, its aetiology, signs and symptoms and cures by folk medicine, Western (modern) medicine and Chinese medicine. The Ch. med. chapter includes some herbal patents names for the treatment of excess uric acid in the blood as well as the manifestations of the disease itself. Thus, have a look here for a case history of gout: http://www.acumedico.com/gangrene.htm and look here for suggestions of herbal treatments for gout: http://www.acumedico.com/medical.htm#Gout Hope you find these helpful. |
